My dear friend Abby celebrated her 25th birthday recently. I wanted to make her something special and I know we share a love for A) great vintage items B) Anthropologie C) unique handbags and D) She & Him. I have been looking for excuse to make something and got inspired from our common loves to create an one-of-a-kind bag! As yes, She & Him is still an inspiration bc I totally think Zooey Deschanel would have this! ha!
I used some vintage fabric for the rosettes. The actual bag was canvas intended for captain chairs- this spring the local World Market was going out of business so I snagged a bunch of fabric for 7 cents!!!! I think that is my best find so far! The straps are made out of rope and wrapped in ribbon and yarn. I tied little frays (I’m not sure what you call ‘em) all along the straps. It’s cool because you can where it as a long strap, short or as a backpack (I didn’t capture the backpack look). I like how it turned out. Happy Birthday Abby and thanks for the inspiration!!
